The celebration of Easter starts the season of Eastertide for those following the Christian calendar in Christendom. It marks the fifty days from Easter to Pentecost. It is a time to focus on the Resurrection, then in forty days the Ascension then Pentecost. Because of the importance of the resurrection, we want to use this time to focus on how the glorious Resurrection effects our lives.
I Corinthians 15: 16-17: 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised. 17 If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
The cross is not the main subject in Acts when you read the sermons, ( Acts 2:14-36; 10:34-43; 13:16-40;17:2-3, 18, 22-31), or the apologetic sections,(Acts 3:9-26, Paul’s defense). Without the resurrection, Jesus’ death on the cross is just the death of an insurrectionist. However, with the resurrection it becomes the place were Satan’s plan is fooled and foiled,( see I Cor. 2:7-9). Consequently, believers are ransomed from the devil and freed from sin and death. This is what we want to examine. So that we might live in the relational dynamic with the blessed Trinity to overcome this sin and death. To do that our next blog with talked about Romans 6: 3-11.
